Projects:

JOIN IN –project aims at developing models to mainstream equality and non-discrimination into strategic planning and service provision of public authorities and into working communities. Starting point for practical work is an equal partnership with groups exposed to discrimination. In Finland non-governmental partners are Finnish League for Human Rights, ENAR, Sexual Equality (SETA) and Disability Forum. Beside cities of Vantaa, Hämeenlinna and Helsinki the project has partners in Sweden, Greece, Spain, Italy and Hungary.

SEIS Project is a joint project of Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Education, Ministry for Health and Social Affairs and Ministry of the Interior/ Police Dpt. It is being carried out in close co-operation with equality bodies and NGO’s. The project has received funding from the Community Action Programme to Combat Discrimination since 2001. Finland Forward Without Discrimination (SEIS) Project shares information and trains on equality and non-discrimination.

Equal Projects – Equal Community Initiative funded by the European Social Fund was established to find new ways and solutions to find a comprehensive approach to prevent and fight marginalisation, all types of discrimination and unequality on labour market.

Messiin Project is an Equal Project in partnership of the Training and Development Centre of Helsinki University (Palmenia), Sexual Equality (SETA ry) and Transgender Support Centre, A-Clinic Foundation and AIDS Support Centre.  Target group of the project are people with trans-people and non-heterosexual persons with drug or alcohol dependences, hiv infection or other problems. Mosaiikki Project was an internationally unique collaborative project promoting diversity and equality. Results of the project include Mosaiikki indicator, a questionnaire to develop an organisation.

”For Diversity. Against Discrimination.” – An EU wide campaign. This website provides information on measures measures that have been initiated by the European Commission's Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities to combat discrimination. Finally, the website provides an update on current anti-discrimination issues and activities in all of the 25 EU Member States.

ETMO Project ETMO aimed at creating new ideas, developing, producing and testing methods of work, materials, training and good practices to promote tolerance and multiculturalism at working communities and to improve employability of immigrants. ETMO produced a training folder “Multicultural Training”.

Networks and network services:

Ihmisoikeudet.net is a virtual school book on human rights. (only available in Finnish and Swedish)

Infopankki is a network service that provides basic information for immigrants about Finnish society. Currently information is available in 12 languages.

MINNA is a national portal of gender research and equality, supported by the Ministry for Health and Social Affairs. Minna is divided into network portal and expert data base. (only available in Finnish)

NOVA ETNA network aims at promoting ethnic equality, diversity and non-discrimination. (in Finnish only)

RASMUS is a national network of people and groups working against racism and xenophobia and promoting multiculturalism and human rights. It is coordinated by the Finnish League of Human Rights.

SELMA, network service of multicultural and immigrant work is a joint initiative of cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen, Järvenpää, Kerava and Tuusula. The network service offers useful and up-to-date information on multicultural issues for anyone working with immigrants.

Network publications:

Romano Boodos is a Finnish Roma newspaper. It is published by Romano Missio five times a year. This internet site presents some of the articles published in the newspaper. (in Finnish only)

Monitori is a professional magazine on developments of refugee and immigrant policy both in Finland and internationally.

Sysäys is an internet publication produced by SEIS Project and it deals with issues of non-discrimination and diversity.
